Number 1 goalkeeper this current season is Herve Koffi, without a doubt. But there was another goalie who played a lot, what happened there?

First, lets dig a bit deeper into Koffi himself. He came to Europe arriving in Lille 5 years ago, coming from Ivory Coast topclub ASEC. He got loaned out 2 years in a row, where the last season he got loaned out to Mouscron, who were still playing in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League at that time. Having the same owner that year (Lille and Mouscron, not anymore though), Mouscron was a kind of Lille B team with over 10 loanees from Lille every season, Koffi was one of them and one of the few, who actually made an impact and impression in the league. (Mouscron is now in the 2nd division, don't think to see them anytime soon the 1st division again).

Koffi made immediately some impressive saves, some very spectacular ones, which made him someone to watch for the season.

Although the club relegated, he convinced a lot of clubs to sign him last summer, but it was Charleroi who could sign him, i would think it's the club where he was 100 % sure he would be number 1, after Penneteau moving to France again.

This season he kind of confirmed the good performances of last year, more consistent as well if you compare it to the season before at Mouscron, where he would make a huge error once and a while.

Right now, you could easily say he is one of the best goalies in the league, and for Sorare users, a solid number 1 for years to come for Charleroi. Although i wouldn't be surprised a bigger team start showing interest, maybe even already this summer, although don't forget he still has a contract till 24.

What happened then with Kamara the first months of this year? Very simple, Koffi was away with Burkina Faso on the AFCON, where the country performed very well. Kamara was brought in to Charleroi only for 6 months on loan from Strasbourg, without a buy option. It was made clear from the start this was just to substitute Koffi while away on international duty. But Koffi got injured in the semi-final match from the AFCON, so Kamara could play some more matches. The 1st match Koffi was in goal after the injury, he got injured again after 15 minutes playing. Now he is back, and if he doesnt get injured again, Kamara played his last match for Charleroi. I do have to say Kamara made a very decent impression all those matches playing. wouldn't be surprised if there are some Belgian teams interested this summer. But he still has a contract till 2023, i dont expect lower tier teams to pay money for a goalie, unless they can get them on a loan off course. With Sels in Strasbourg as a solid number 1, dont expect him to play there. Before Charleroi went for Koffi this summer, they were interested in Kamara (as their 1st gk), but the couldn't come to an agreement for a contract

Next season, dont think there will be that many changes for the goalkeepers in Charleroi.

(unless some team comes to buy Koffi) Koffi number 1 and Desprez number 2. Their 3rd goalie, young Chiacig recently signed his 1st professional contract, so they are ok for at least next season. Also important to know, that normally their manager, Edward Still, will also stay at the club, managers at Charleroi tend to stay for a while. (just remember his name, this manager you will hear from a lot in the next decade, only 30 years old, extremely talented)

Small remark to make and maybe to bear in mind, Charleroi needs to sell players every year to keep being a healthy club,

the clubdirector stated last week that playersales represent 50% of the budget, which could mean they need to sell their best players (Zorgane might be a possibility).

But Koffi is not ruled out to sell as well off course, if you do need the money. And then who knows Kamara might arrive to become their 1st gk after all.
